Learn Swedish with music
Play a Swedish song in Spotify. Singuistic shows the words as they're sung, with English underneath.
Vi stannar tills spårvagnen slutar gå
We'll stay until the trams stop running
Original line written for Singuistic — not a lyric excerpt.
Learning Swedish as an English speaker
Swedish grammar is close enough to English that you can read a lyric on day one. The pitch accent is the real work, and it cannot be learned from text — only from hearing it, repeatedly, in something you enjoy.
Watch for: en/ett words, and the definite article stuck on the end of the noun.
How it works
- 1Connect Spotify and press play on any Swedish track.
- 2The lyric line lights up in time with the vocal, with the English right below it.
- 3Tap a word to keep it. It lands in your vault for review later — the song never stops.
Artists to start with
Veronica Maggio
Colloquial Stockholm Swedish.
Håkan Hellström
Gothenburg accent, emotional and clear.
Laleh
Simple sentences, easy tempo.
Kent
Poetic but unhurried.
Miriam Bryant
Modern, conversational lines.
Why songs work
A song repeats the same phrase four or five times and you don't mind. Melody carries the words into memory the way rote repetition never does, and because you chose the track, you'll play it again tomorrow.

Free and ProQuestions
- Can I really learn Swedish from songs?
- Not on its own — but as the listening and vocabulary half of your study it beats any app, because you repeat willingly. Singuistic adds the reading and review half.
- Do I need Spotify Premium?
- You need a Spotify account so we can read what's playing. Playback works with what your account already allows.
- Which songs have synced lyrics?
- Most popular tracks. When a song has no synced version we show the plain lyric, still translated.
